Hello,

This was a week of historic firsts for Palestinians - while the devastating war continues.

The first time the death toll in Gaza crossed 60,000 confirmed deaths - even though the real figure is expected to be much higher. The first time Israel drops aid from the air - although it completely controls the ability to deliver air by land as famine threatens Gaza. And the first time the UK has said it would recognise a Palestinian state - but only if Israel continued its starvation of Gaza.

Our newsroom covered these firsts while looking to the future of how the war could end and a two-state solution could emerge.

Under Saudi-French patronage, foreign ministers met to recommit to the two-state solution – with clear American and Israeli rejection of the concept as they boycotted the meeting. Rather, US Secretary of State Rubio announced sanctions on the Palestinian Authority and the PLO, saying they would be punished for internationalising their cause. And yet, Palestine has become a global cause, while Israel’s isolation grows.

Have a good weekend,
